Windows 10 support end a year ago, are you still using it?

It’s now been just over 12 months since Microsoft officially ended standard support for Windows 10 on 14th October 2025. At the time, businesses were encouraged to upgrade their devices, move to Windows 11 or explore alternative solutions.

But a year on, we know that many businesses are still running Windows 10. Is yours one of them?

Perhaps you’ve been putting off upgrading because your existing equipment still works perfectly well. Maybe replacing multiple devices feels like an unnecessary expense, or you’ve simply not had the time to tackle the transition.

Whatever the reason, you’re certainly not alone.

The question is, what risks could you be taking by continuing to use Windows 10?

Although your computers may still be working as normal, standard support has ended, and devices without Extended Security Updates (ESU) are no longer receiving routine security patches.

This could have implications for your business:

  • Security Risks – Without ongoing security updates, your systems could become increasingly vulnerable to cyberattacks.
  • Compliance & Insurance – Using unsupported operating systems could affect your ability to meet certain compliance requirements or insurance conditions.
  • Software Compatibility – New applications and software updates may no longer work reliably with Windows 10.
  • Unexpected Costs – Continuing to use ageing systems could result in more expensive problems further down the line.

So, what’s stopping you from making the move?

At datamills, we understand that upgrading isn’t always straightforward, particularly when budgets are tight or you’ve got perfectly functional equipment that you’re reluctant to replace.

We can help you explore practical, cost-effective solutions, including:

  • Upgrading compatible devices to Windows 11.
  • Reviewing hosted desktop and cloud-based alternatives.
  • Developing a phased replacement plan to spread the costs.
  • Assessing your existing equipment to identify what really needs replacing.

We’d love to know how your business is managing a year on.

Are you still using Windows 10? If so, what’s the main reason you’ve not upgraded? Is it cost, compatibility, time or something else?

Even if you’re not ready to make changes just yet, we’re happy to have a conversation about your options.
