Hardware Pricing Volatility
If you’re planning to buy laptops, servers or other IT equipment this year, you may have noticed that prices are changing more quickly than usual.
There are a few reasons for this, but the biggest one is the rapid growth in AI data centres, which are using huge amounts of the same components that go into everyday business hardware.
That increased demand is putting pressure on supply chains and manufacturers.
What this means in practice is:
- Prices can change quite quickly
- Some models may suddenly go out of stock
- Suppliers are only holding prices for shorter periods
We’ve even seen laptop prices increase by up to 20% within a few weeks.
What This Means for Quotes
Historically, we’ve always held hardware quotes for 30 days.
Because of the current market changes, suppliers are now only guaranteeing pricing for much shorter periods. To make sure the pricing we give you stays accurate, our hardware quotes are currently valid for 7 days.
This isn’t something we’ve changed lightly, but it allows us to stay transparent and avoid unexpected price changes later on.
Planning Ahead Helps
If you’re thinking about:
- replacing laptops or desktops
- upgrading servers
- expanding your network
- rolling out new devices
it’s worth starting those conversations a little earlier than usual.
That way we can secure pricing while it’s still available and help avoid any unexpected increases.
