DMARC policies – you need to know this to keep your emails flowing

We all want our emails to reach the inbox of the person we are sending them too. Right?

Because of the increase of fake and fraudulent emails, the big companies like Google, Yahoo and others have, from the beginning of February 2024, raised the bar on the email security.  They are doing this by stopping incoming mail from email sources that are not using the ‘higher standard’ of DMARC.

Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance (DMARC) is an email authentication protocol.  If you are not applying this ‘higher standard’ your emails may not reach your intended destination.

Sending emails:

The great news for datamills email customers, is that at “the email company” we have applied these changes to your email settings already, at no cost to you…

If you buy your emails through datamills, you won’t have any trouble sending your email, as we’ve been busy behind the scenes, making sure that your DMARC is all in place.

Receiving emails:

We are starting to see that other companies are also raising the bar on the security as a way of protecting all of us, but this means that incoming email may not get to your inbox because the sender’s email does not meet this ‘higher requirement’ for sending.

If you are expecting an email and not getting it, this may be the reason why.  If you’re having this problem, we can check for you, to see if the sender’s email system meets this ‘higher standard’.  If not, they will need to talk to their email provider/IT support.  If they are still having problems, maybe we can help achieve this new level and keep their email flowing…

If you know anyone whose emails are not arriving at their destination, do give them our details and recommend that they give us a call on 0114 287 0510
