Should I upgrade to Windows 11?

Is it time to upgrade to Windows 11?

The Microsoft Windows 11 operating system has been around for almost a year now.  It has even had it’s first major update.

When a new version of an operating system is released, it’s always a wise idea to wait a while before upgrading to it.  This is because all the many apps and other pieces of software that you use may run into bugs or glitches with the new operating system.  It can take a while to get everything fully updated to be 100% compatible with the new operating system.  By waiting a while, you can let other people suffer the pain of discovering where these incompatibilities are, and then do your own upgrade when it’s likely to run much more smoothly!

Were there many initial problems with Windows 11?

There were initial complaints of Windows 11 running slowly, or even freezing.  There were a few applications that didn’t work.  However, Microsoft has now released patches that fix most of these problems.

Is there a charge to upgrade?

No, it’s free. But only Windows 10 PCs that are running the most current version of Windows 10 and meet the minimum hardware specifications will be able to upgrade. You can check to see if you have the latest updates for Windows 10 in Settings/Windows Update.

So, nearly a year in, is it safe to upgrade now?

Yes!  We think that the majority of users will now be safe to upgrade to Windows 11 without suffering any problems.

Will Windows 11 be better for me?

Windows 11 certainly has a different feel from earlier operating systems – starting with the Start Menu, which is in the centre bottom of the screen, not the bottom left!  You may or may not like the feel of it; that’s a matter of personal taste.

But whatever you feel about it, Windows 11 is, without a doubt, the most secure version of Windows ever released.  And that is definitely a good thing.
