Where’s my OneDrive gone?

Where’s my OneDrive gone?!

This was the anguished question we received from a customer last week.

Many folk use OneDrive to save documents, photos, and other files in the cloud, share them, and collaborate on content. OneDrive for work is online storage for your organization.

So when you sit in front of your computer and the OneDrive symbol is no-where to be seen….PANIC!!!  Where has all my work gone?

Not surprisingly, our customer was pretty perturbed when this happened to them.

So they picked up the ‘phone and gave us a call at datamills.

It’s easily resolved!

The great news, if you ever find yourself in this position, is that your OneDrive most likely hasn’t disappeared.  It’s unlikely to have been deleted, and all your hard work gone forever, and all of those worst-case scenarios that flash through your head in a moment like this.

Usually it’s just a case of not being able to find it.  And with the right help, it can be quickly found.

However, to save yourself from having to go through this stress again, there is a way of making sure your OneDrive is always to hand when you need it.

Keep OneDrive on hand

This can be done by “pinning” OneDrive to your taskbar (this is usually the bar across the bottom of your screen, between the start menu on the left, and the clock on the right).  It is usually populated with icons showing which programs are open.

To pin OneDrive to the taskbar:

  1. search for OneDrive using the search bar (magnifying glass icon on the bottom left of your screen next to the start menu)
  2. right-click on it
  3. select “pin to taskbar”

It’s as simple as that!

And then you need never worry about losing it again.
