We’ve all had to adapt and change very quickly over the last week or two, as the effect of Coronavirus (COVID-19) has taken hold.
For many of us, this has meant a baptism of fire in working from home, after UK health secretary Matt Hancock announced that people should “only go to work if you cannot work from home“.
At datamills, we’ve all grabbed phones and computers from the office and plugged them in at home.
We’ve created make-shift offices in our bedrooms and kitchens!
We’re learning to toddler-proof our cables, and oversee our children’s home-learning at the same time as working ourselves.
We’re communicating with colleagues by Zoom, Whatsapp, Skype, email, phone and other methods, with varying degrees of success.
We’re realising the things we can’t do so easily remotely.
We’re making plenty of mistakes, and trying to learn from them each day so that the next day we do a little better.
And at times it can get a bit…. ARGHHHH!
If you’re feeling like this right now, we’d like to hold your hand.
We’re here to help.
We recommend taking a deep breath and writing down all the things that you’re finding difficult.
Now look at your list.
What is your biggest headache? The thing that’s really stopping you from being able to work efficiently.
Maybe it will be possible to make changes one thing at a time, so that day-by-day things work better.
If you need help with your emails, remote access to your office computer, file sharing, or any other technical aspect of remote working, we’d love to hold your hand.
We’ve been really busy the last week or so helping many of our customers get set up to work remotely, and we’d love to help you too.
