Warning – BlueKeep exploit – protect your computers

  • The BlueKeep exploit, a new threat to Windows operating systems, has recently been identified.
  • It’s sufficiently dangerous that Microsoft have taken the extremely unusual step of releasing security patches even for versions of operating system that they have not supported for a long time.  And Microsoft do not do that very often at all.
  • To stay safe, you need to make sure that these security patches are applied to your computers.

The good news for datamills customers (if you’re using our “Baseline-Secure-Support“, “Baseline-Secure-Critical” or “Patch Management” services) is that you don’t need to worry, and you don’t need to do anything.  We have already been checking behind the scenes to ensure that all your machines are patched and safe.

Anyone else will need to ensure that you are fully up-to-date with Microsoft updates.  If you’re not sure that your computers are covered, give us a call today on 0114 287 0510, or email us on info@datamills.co.uk

Don’t leave your computers vulnerable to attack.  Here’s why…

What  the BlueKeep exploit does:

BlueKeep allows a remote user to effectively gain administrator level access to a PC simply by making a remote desktop connection.  It is known as an RDP exploit, since it exploits the RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol).  Once a hacker is onto your computer with administrator level access, there’s no end to the damage that can be done.

The BlueKeep exploit was identified on 14 May 2019, and applies to Windows 2000 through to Windows Server 2008 R2 including Windows 7, Vista, and XP.  Windows 8 and 10 are not affected.

So, to cut a long story short, you need, need, NEED to patch!  And keep up-to-date with security patches.

If you’re unsure whether or not your computers are patched and secure, give us a ring to discuss it on 0114 287 0510, or email us at info@datamills.co.uk
