If you are using Microsoft 365‘s “Outlook on the web” with the right updates, and you also have a LinkedIn profile, you can now integrate the two. Have a look at this video to find out more.
Integrating your LinkedIn account with your Microsoft Outlook on the web gives you more information about your contacts. You can discover mutual contacts, colleagues, training and work history, allowing you to build a strong working relationship.
You will be able to send emails to many of your LinkedIn connections, without needing to have their email addresses stored in your contacts. Simply type their name in the To line when composing the message in Outlook.
Microsoft say that this will “enhance the way you connect and collaborate with people outside your organisation”. LinkedIn add that “we bring the power of LinkedIn’s network into your day-to-day in Office 365”.
Beyond the basic ability to see information about people and be able to contact them easily, there are now two further possibilities being rolled out:
- Make connections instantly. You can now add insights about people you’ll be having meetings with, using the LinkedIn integration with your Outlook calendar.
- Collaborate easily. You can email or coauthor content (in Word, PowerPoint or Excel) with your LinkedIn first-degree connections without needing to have their email addresses stored in your Outlook contacts.
Connecting your accounts shares basic information, such as your profile, contacts and calendar. However, Microsoft are quick to point out that your privacy will be honoured. You choose the privacy settings you want, including who can see your email address.
LinkedIn integration in the Office web apps will gradually start rolling out in the coming months, becoming available worldwide by the end of April 2019.
