Windows 10 Creators update only days away!

The next big Windows 10 version: the Creators Update, is scheduled to arrive very soon, from 11th April 2017.

What will it mean to you:

  • Update control: Microsoft automatically download and install updates.  However, it is believed that with Creators Update, you’ll be given the option of installing the update immediately, or rescheduling it for a more convenient time.  This means that you won’t have to put up with unavoidable interruption to your work whenever Windows does an update – more control to you…
  • Holographic interface: Exciting!  Several manufacturers will be making VR headsets for Windows 10, and this is the interface…
  • Blue light reduction: Just as many mobile operating systems reduce blue light emission at night to reduce melatonin production and improve sleep, Windows is introducing the feature here.
  • Pin people to the taskbar: depending on how you use your computer, this feature could be very useful – simply drag and drop files to your contacts on the taskbar!
  • Ebooks: Yep – you’ll soon be able to buy and read ebooks using Windows 10.
  • Edge: Creators Update gives some improvements to Edge, the internet browser.  These include disabling Flash content, and the ability to read PDF formats.
  • Security: Creators Update makes Windows Defender (anti-malware protection) more comprehensive, with it’s own easy-to-check dashboard available via Settings.
  • 3D content: You can now create 3D shapes in Paint!
  • Look and Feel: Creators Update makes small changes to the overall Windows interface, including to the Start menu layout.
  • Game mode: (and “App throttling”).  Both of these prioritise the game (or app) that’s running and devote as much processing time, RAM and other resources to making it run as fast as it can.

So, lots of exciting new features, if that’s what you’re looking for, but still very much the same thing, if you’d rather not keep changing all the time…  Keep your eyes out for the Creators Update!
