Top internet browsing shortcuts

Try the following tips to speed up your internet searching:

  1. You don’t have to type the whole long web address into the address bar at the top of your browser – you can miss out http:// and even www.!  Try simply entering datamills.co.uk into your address bar…
  2. Do you ever follow a link on a webpage, and then have to make your way back to the original website later?  Making use of tabs enables you to flick easily backwards and forwards between the original page and any useful links you want to view.  Simply hold down the Control (CTRL) key when you click on the link, and it will open in a new tab, leaving the original page still open for you to refer back to.
  3. Filling in a form, and sick of wrestling the cursor into position for each new box?  Just fill in one box, and then press the tab button to jump forward to the next one.
  4. Try these shortcuts:
CTRL L – moves the cursor to the address bar
CTRL + – increases the text size
CTRL – – decreases the text size
CTRL F – brings up the “find text within page” box, so you can enter the word you’re looking for
CTRL R – refreshes the page (F5 works too)
CTRL B – opens your internet bookmarks that you’ve previously saved
backspace – to go back a page

Happy internet using!
