Datamills technicians find unusual cause of computer malfunction

datamills was initially approached by Bethany School to help after a computer virus had taken hold on the office computers.  After advising and resolving the problem, we installed antivirus protection to guard against similar problems in the future.
We also advised the School to fit a better backup system.  This proved not to be possible with the existing setup, so in the October half-term we upgraded the school IT from the office to the IT suite.  Following this, the backup system was successfully installed.
After several weeks of running successfully , the School started to experience strange problems with the server!  A little investigative work was necessary before we found the unexpected culprit – water was getting into the cable between the two buildings. This was tracking along inside the cable to technical equipment within the buildings!  datamills temporarily fitted some outdoor-grade cabling to rectify the problem, until our trusted electrician partner was able to fit a permanent solution. The server is now running happily again!
Delighted head teacher, Judith Baxter, said “From the start Andrew proved invaluable to us.  He was able to assess our situation and suggest solutions, working with the very limited resources that we had.  Datamills replaced computers and updated software across our system.  This involved a lot of work, and was done with minimal fuss and as little inconvenience to our running as possible.  Following the installation, datamills has remained extremely supportive, responding quickly to queries that we have raised, always polite, helpful and knowledgeable”.
